This book was given to me in the late 70s when I was discerning whether God may be calling me to religious life - I would have entered a Franciscan Community. God led me in a different direction. I am married and have 2 grown children. While on a directed retreat recently at a Franciscan Spiritual Center at the beginning of Advent, my director asked if I have ever read Francis, The Journey and the Dream. I told her around 40 years ago and a time or two since then. She recommended I read it again. Still a profound book that challenges me to open my hands and allow God to lead me. Excellent, well-written, enlightening and informative book. I like how it was arranged, like little vinniettes of St. Francis’s life. Really well worth the read.
Love this book, but then, I love everything Murray Bodo has written. I had the pleasure of meeting him last year.
Really quite good. Having been to Assisi recently, feeling the presence of Saint Francis and Saint Clare, I can say that reading this book brought me back there intimately feeling the presence of these two amazing people of 13th century Assisi. I highly recommend this book and of course, to take the pilgrimage to Assisi in person. An amazing place of peace and reflection of God's Love as understood by Francis and Clare. Enjoy!!!
This is very focused on the person. It is very easy to read and doesn't get complicated. If you are looking for a historical document, look elsewhere, but if you are looking for an experience buy immediately. I even bought extra copies to give away!
Wonderful book. This was my introduction to Saint Francis, and I loved the novel like style. The prose is beautiful; the messages clear. Father Bodo is truly blessed with talent and this book can really change you for the better.
